After a recent win that secured the 2026 District Champions title, this hardworking team bursts with excitement as they try to reach farther. Looking from an outside perspective, the Kingwood Girls Soccer program would seem to others like another sport where coaches and players fight to get to the top, but from an inside perspective, with Harper Mills, who has worn a varsity jersey all four years of high school, this program is special because of the chemistry.
After being in this program since freshman year, Mills states, “The two main things I have learned in soccer are commitment and resilience. Soccer has taught me to stay dedicated even when things are challenging and to rely on my teammates for support.”

This team has that exact mentality in games and beyond. Kingwood Girls Soccer has a history of success, as evidenced by multiple District Champion titles, academic awards, and recent regional semifinal and quarterfinal awards.
When asked about the main thing she looks forward to in practices or game days, Harper answered, “being with my teammates. Our chemistry this year has made the team feel really close and has made practices and games more fun and competitive!”

The support Harper Mills describes her teammates giving her goes hand-in-hand with the love Kate Kristiansen, a senior on varsity since her sophomore year, has for the team as well.
“I absolutely love all my teammates!” Kate states. “They are some of my best friends, and I’ve been playing with some of them ever since I was little!” The comfort and encouragement these girls receive is what Kristiansen claims makes the Girls Soccer program so much fun and special.
With this one-of-a-kind chemistry, Kate says, “My teammates and coaches push me to be the best version of myself, and they are the most supportive people! They push me to be a good leader, teammate, friend, and player.” One thing this program has helped her with is, “confidence! Kingwood Girls Soccer feels like a big family in which everyone is always lifting each other up!”
This atmosphere had the chance to be created under head coach Adam Bell, a graduate from Sam Houston State University. Throughout his coaching years, Bell was able to show Huffman, Beaumont West Brook, and Klein High School winning stats they had never seen before. He has won “Coach of the Year Honors” three times in his career and aims to continue the Lady Mustangs’ winning traditions.
Upon being asked about one of the best moments in soccer this year, Hazel Rutherford, a junior on varsity since freshman year, replied, “Definitely our first game against Atascocita. It was one of our first big wins of the season, and it really set a precedent for the rest of the districts.” Hazel then goes on to state how her team is what motivates her the most to give her full effort. “We are such a close-knit group,” she expresses, “so even when it gets tough on the field or in practice, I want to keep working.”

This type of bond with teammates, encouragement from coaches, and support in areas of improvement is what makes the Kingwood Girls Soccer team strong. This sport guarantees an opportunity to improve. This team and our coach have challenged and encouraged my teammates and me more than I ever thought possible. This program motivates us to show up and improve every day. Playing Kingwood girls soccer has not only made me a better player, but a better person,” Rutherford notes.
As this team of well-built ladies continues to work toward the top, they help one another by supporting and pushing each other to be the best versions of themselves they can be. But this goes beyond their high school soccer career, as this program teaches each and every player to strengthen their positive attributes for now and forever, promising nothing but success in their futures. These words of reassurance lay firm foundations of confidence and leadership in this team’s mindsets, for them to carry for life. Nothing but chemistry, uplifting, and pushes.
Come out and support the KHS Varsity Girls Soccer in the Playoffs! Go Blue!
