KHS Varsity Team Tennis Fall Season Overview – 2019
After three months, the Kingwood High School Tennis season has come to a close. Kingwood finished with an undefeated district record. After beating Clear Creek in a thrilling match 10-9, Kingwood lost a hard-fought match to Deer Park 9-10 in the regional quarterfinals. This is the team’s third farthest finish in school history. Kingwood also finished as District 22-6A Champs, Bi-District Champs and Area Champs.
The season was definitely a success as team grew together in tennis and bonded off the court. This was the last team tennis season for the seniors and we wish them the best as they continue to prepare for college, but more importantly enjoy their last year at Kingwood.
Now, the preparation begins for the spring, or individual, season. The tennis team is fortunate to have two coaches that are invested into the team in Head Coach Timothy Green and Assistant Coach Greg Dwyer. In the next few months, they will be helping the players to prepare their games for the spring tournaments. Hopefully, the spring will be just as successful as the fall and last year’s spring 2019 season (JV, Freshmen, and Varsity won districts) if not more successful as many players look to take strides forward in their games.
