The Kingwood Fillies participated in the 1st annual Katy Invitational Field Dance Contest on November 7, 2023. In the state of Texas, a dance competition specifically focused on field dances has never taken place. To gain more exposure in the athletics and UIL world, Katy ISD hosted the first-ever invitational dance field contest. Dance teams competed against other schools in their division (4A, 5A, and 6A). The Fillies competed against 20 other 6A High Schools and not only received a Division I rating but also took home 1st overall with their field kick routine performed to “Happy”. To compete at this event, the Fillies had to provide an official roster and the Kingwood Mighty Mustang Military Marching Band recorded the music for them to perform.
The Fillies were excited to be part of this inaugural event and hope to see more of these events take place in Texas. Next up, contest season!
