Kingwood Track District 22-6A Championships
May 5, 2019
On April 9th 2019, our very own Kingwood track team competed in the District 22-6A Championships with numerous athletes qualifying for the upcoming Area meet. Among these athletes are our very best runners throwers and jumpers, including 6 girls in field events, 19 girls in running events and numerous boys in 10 different running and field events. Both the boys and girls teams placed 3rd overall and contributed to a great season. Megan Anglin placed first in pole vault, Trent Nolan placed first in the 800 meter run, Carter Storm won the 1600 and 3200, and finally, Garrett Carswell became district champion of 300 meter hurdles. The boys and girls 4×4 is considered to be the most exciting event of the meet. In a fight to the finish, the girls placed second, and the boys placed third. Another special part of the district meet is the senior lap. During the meet recap in the exclusive Kingwood “circle up”, the seniors recall the most special times of their lives on the team and the friendships that they have made throughout their four years. Then, when all is done, they take their last lap on the track, hand in hand as they finish their senior season as a family. Throughout the season these athletes work their hardest everyday in practice to get the chance to compete, so if you see one of our competitors in the hallway make sure to congratulate them on the team’s great accomplishments this season!
