In their opening game against Clear Creek (29-0), the Mustangs put on a stellar performance, excelling on both offense and defense. Their hard work and preparation were evident, as they dominated the field from start to finish. In their second game against La Porte (28-21), the Mustangs kept the momentum going with smart plays and impressive teamwork. The offense was sharp, and the defense made key stops to keep their opponents from scoring. Several players stood out with big performances that helped secure the win.
We spoke with Adeolu Dada and Marquez Davis to get their thoughts on the season and what sets this team apart. They also reflected on the upcoming game against Stratford and shared their expectations for the challenging district games ahead, starting with C.E. King in October. Here are their responses.
“This year, many more people are stepping up into leadership roles and ensuring that the team plays as one cohesive unit rather than as individuals. Stratford is a tough team, but if everyone does their job and maintains their composure, I believe we can surprise everyone and pull off an upset.” – Marquez Davis (Senior, RB)

“The feeling of being one of the leaders on this team is special to me because I know this team is destined for great things. I’m grateful that my teammates see me as one of the players who should lead the way this year.
One of the main differences I see in this year’s team is our belief. We have faith in each other, in the work we’ve put in, and in our ability to beat anyone who stands in front of us. This belief comes from our mutual trust. Whether it’s waking up at 4:00 a.m. for practice or enduring punishment together, knowing that our teammates are right there with us makes all the difference. I believe this has transformed us from just a team into a family, which drives us to play for each other.
Regarding our game against Stratford next week, we know they’re a good team, but so are we. Our main focus is to stay humble and take it day by day with the goal of going 1-0 in everything we do.” – Adeolu Dada (Senior, DE)
