This Saturday is an amazing opportunity to unite for a cause—the Go Gold Race, teamed up between Addi’s Faith Foundation and Kingwood’s Triathlon Club.
Seniors Ethan Fixmer, and Joshua Yates wanted to make a difference in our community Both had friends who have struggled in the battle against pediatric cancer, and sought out to find a way to work together to make a difference in children’s cancer in Kingwood. Eventually, they came across a local non-profit, Addi’s Faith Foundation. The Addi’s Faith Foundation is a Kingwood based non-profit organization that directly supports pediatric cancer patients, as well as groundbreaking research to eradicate pediatric cancer. After reaching out and establishing a relationship with the Addi’s Faith Foundation, their passion for athletic competitions, as varsity athletes and founders of the Triathlon Club at Kingwood High School, led them to propose the creation of a new athletic event in Kingwood. Addis faith loved the idea and so both organizations began working together to create a new charity event in Kingwood, the Go Gold Race. The Go Gold Race, is an athletic event featuring three races: a 1K Kids Race, 5K Run/Walk, and an Aquathlon race (a 150 yard swim into a 5K run). Ethan and Joshua have been working hard, acquiring over 14 company sponsors, and have raised close to $6,000 so far, and are hoping to raise even more funds by getting more people to sign up for the race.
The event is scheduled for November 4th, and includes tons of features, perfect for any age including a petting zoo, face painting, photo booths, and more, as well as pizza sponsored from our local favorite, Crust Pizza.
