What are you most grateful for in this current moment?
“One thing you do not expect about your senior year of high school is how hectic your life gets. The transitionary period from high school and childhood to the real-world is not only scary, but also confusing. As a result, I have decided to make the most out of my final year here at Kingwood. One way I have gone about this is in my Class Officer leadership position. The other five officers that I get to work with – Madeleine, Nita, Connor, Matty, and Eli – have been sort of crutches that I can lean on and bounce ideas off of. Whether it be my senior overalls design, what color cleats I buy for my upcoming sports seasons, or homework help, the five other officers have already been the source of some of my best memories of senior year and my previous three years of high school. I am immensely thankful for the support and fellowship that we have mutually shared with each other whilst leading the Class of 2024 and embarking on our futures has been indispensable and I am so excited for our future endeavors over the next seven months.”
What was the best day that you’ve had so far in your life?
“From last November to this past March, I had the opportunity to play Kingwood Mustang Varsity Soccer. Before the season began, we had a players-only meeting about what goals we wanted to accomplish for the season. The most popular answer was to make the playoffs, which seemed a hefty task given that we had almost finished last place in district play the year prior. Not only did we make the playoffs, but on Friday, March 10th we became district champions for the first time in ten years. To put the gravity of our win into context, Kingwood Soccer had been in a championship drought dating back to when I was in first grade. When the final whistle rang, chaos ensued: my entire team stormed the field, laughing, hugging, and dancing. The feelings that I felt on that Friday night reminded me of why I decided to play soccer when I was younger and encapsulated everything I love about the beautiful game. It was an accomplishment in my life that I will always have fond memories of and is one that I am happy I was able to spend with some of my best friends and teammates. “
