Whether it be a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night, there’s one thing all of Kingwood come together for- Kingwood’s Varsity Football Games. These games bring all four grades together enjoying not only an original game of football, but the classic high school traditions we all look forward to each year and reminisce on – including our all time famous student section.
This season, our student section has been dressing out to each football game for each theme- whether it be in September for supporting children with pediatric cancer, or in October for supporting those who’ve gone through breast cancer, the students at Kingwood High School show up, dressed up, and bringing their true mustang pride to show their school spirit.
But, football games aren’t just about showing up in fun outfits and taking photos. It’s about coming together as one community, making Kingwood a place for all. So, I went ahead and interviewed some Kingwood teams to see what their favorite part about games are and how it makes high school the “true experience”.
What is your favorite part about Football Games?
“Our favorite part about football season is being in the stands! It’s always such an incredible time cheering on the football team with the student body and the band!” -Kingwood Fillies
For the Kingwood Fillies, the best part of football season is being in the stands. Cheering on the football team alongside other students and the vibrant band creates an incredible experience that captures the essence of high school spirit. This energy sets the stage for the best times at Turner Stadium, as shared by the Kingwood Cheer team.
What is one of the best memories you have at Turner Stadium?
“Definitely getting rained on! You’d think with rain and storms games wouldn’t be as fun, but it truly is one of the best times for us as a whole team to come together. We love getting to cheer on our football team and it truly is just an amazing experience to get to watch all of Kingwood get together on a sport.” -Kingwood Cheer
These interviews paint a vivid picture of the magic that unfolds during Kingwood’s Varsity Football Games. The games go beyond the sport, becoming an album in which memories are saved, traditions celebrated, and a community strengthened. The rain-soaked cheers and the collective dances in the stands—all contribute to the true high school experience at Kingwood, where the heartbeat of unity beats with each touchdown and cheer.
