College Football & Predictions for 2020-21 Season
September 19, 2020
Who is the favorite to claim the title for the National Championship 2020-21 season? The season is off to a slow and rocky start with COVID-19 still looming around the United States. Decisions from the PAC-12 and Big Ten to not even play in the fall to now turn around and start in October for the Big Ten. I am still going to take a chance and make my own predictions for the year for the match up tentatively scheduled for January 11th in Miami.
I think Alabama will be the National Champs this year because they return some future early round draft picks including Dylan Moses, Devonta Smith, Alex Leatherwood, and Najee Harris. While they have some uncertainty at QB, I think either Mac Jones or Bryce Young will be fine. Clemson still comes in at No. 1 in the rankings with one of the strongest teams and a strong recruiting season with Bryan Bresee on the defensive line and star, junior QB Trevor Laurence who will be up for the Heisman Trophy this year. They also have been giving a gift by having Travis Etienne back for the offense. Let’s turn to the Big Ten, who will still have a strong presence with the Buckeyes. Ohio State will start late but still with a strong team with the same QB, Justin Fields who was a Heisman Nominee. The Buckeyes were able to get a strong recruiting class for this season to enhance their existing offensive line.
However, is this the year for the SEC to shine again with Florida, Georgia, Auburn, and LSU. Florida is one to watch as they have consistently done well over the past two years. LSU may not be as strong as they would like losing Joe Burrow, 2019 Heisman Trophy winner, and their whole team to the NFL Draft. They still have some great recruits and there is no way to tell how well QB Myles Brennan will do leading the team.
Hoping for a great College Football fall with low surges and injuries. Honestly it has been nice to turn on the TV and see college sports back on TV. I know many people are disappointed they can’t go and watch their Alma Mater or team’s games; however, I am just thrilled they are starting and we can watch them from TV.
My Picks for the Season are still dominated by the SEC:
1st – Alabama
2nd – Ohio State
3rd. – Clemson
4th – Florida
5th – Georgia
6th – Auburn
7th – LSU
8th – Texas
9th – Texas A&M
10th – North Carolina
