TAFE

Kaylee Corbin, Fine Arts Editor

Kingwood High School has a diverse student body with different interests as well as multiple clubs and organizations specifically for those unique passions. One new organization that was recently added to the collection of diverse clubs at Kingwood is TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators). As the name implies, this group helps students prepare themselves to become educators. Currently, this club is not a part of the national TAFE organization but they are hoping to be inducted next school year. Although TAFE is not a part of the national organization, they have been meeting every other Friday B-block of lunch and have been going to Shadow Forest and Willow Creek Elementary schools on Thursday mornings before school in order to practice being in an educational environment in the teaching role rather than the student role. In addition to going to these elementary schools, TAFE has also done some teacher appreciation projects.

Even if you are not 100% sure that teaching is something that you’d like to pursue in the future, TAFE is a great way to build leadership skills, build a strong work ethic, learn valuable life lessons, as well as provide opportunities for community service and volunteer hours.

If you are interested in joining TAFE and have any questions regarding meetings or what else the club entails, go to room 4704 and see the club sponsor, Mrs. Carnahan!
