The band season has finally wrapped up, and we’ve achieved 3rd place in all of Texas. After four incredible years of marching with this program, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment.
From welcoming a new band director to making countless memories, we’ve carried on the tradition of respect, responsibility, leadership, musicianship, grit, and camaraderie. As an organization, we have truly achieved greatness—and it has been an absolute joy and honor serving as both the Hype Man and VP of Recruitment.
Coming off the field at the end, we all knew—no matter what the judges said—that that was our run. No matter the placement, no one could take that moment away. Our third-place trophy stands as proof of the work, dedication, and time each and every band member has poured in—from summer band camp to the long school nights and early morning competitions. We persevered and pushed forward through it all.
I want to thank everyone who made this possible—from the graduated seniors who taught us everything we know, to the freshmen who stepped onto the state competition field for the first time with military excellence and the honor of our program, marching an incredible show. Of course, we couldn’t have done it without our amazing directors and all the other military marching bands who continue to carry the culture and heritage of military marching forward.
Though I may not be here next year, I have no fear for this program. We’ve already achieved greatness—and the only direction left is up. Now go and show the judges, Texas, and even the country why we are called the Kingwood Mighty Mustang Military Marching Band.
